Destination weddings are becoming more and more the top choice for many newly engaged couples, but it isn’t the less expensive option it once was, or thought to be.
So here are our top 5 pointers for having the wedding of your dreams without breaking the bank..
Choose a destination (location and venue)that has multiple resorts with varying price points. This allows for some room for negotiation.
Consider your guests when selecting your venue and destination. It is your special day and what makes it special is being surrounded by those who mean the most. Make it possible for family and friends to be a part of your celebration. If it is out of their reach budget wise, it will make it challenging to attend as well meaning as they are. Also consider off season wedding dates to allow for further reductions.
Book early! book early! book early! With the increase interests in destination weddings - venues and resorts book up early and special incentives and inclusions are subject to availability. You don’t want to have to settle so be sure to secure all those wedding perks asap. You are savvy but so are other couples.
For parties over 20, consider eliciting a travel/tour operator that specializes in group bookings to handle your party. You or your planner have many details to take care of that require a lot of attention and this should not be one of them. They are professionals and have skills & knowledge that can prove to be beneficial in more ways than one.
And last but not least, strongly consider a wedding planner. Most resorts offer a coordinator on site to handle many of your needs whilst on site, but many people choose to marry away from home to reduce the amount of work, stress and detail that goes into planning a successful wedding. That takes a lot of preparation beforehand which many resorts do not offer and if they do it won’t involve the level of detail you may require. Consult with an experienced wedding planner and see all of the benefits that await you.
Good luck and all the best on your wedding!
